Sophie Smiley

I was born and bred in Cambridge, a city I love.

I specialise in tailoring tours to people in a personalised way.

After studying literature and art history at York University, I had a career teaching in local comprehensive schools. I’ve written children’s books, and taught creative writing to adults in the university museums, including Kettles Yard. I’m a volunteer guide at the David Parr House.

I particularly enjoy giving themed tours, e.g. Science and Medicine; Spies; Literature; Women of Cambridge; Art and Architecture; Ghosts; a Word-Lovers’ Tour.

I lead social history tours, away from the university, in areas such as Mill Road, the Kite, Chesterton, Newnham.

My tours are suitable for people of all ages, from young children upwards, and include people with additional needs.

I conduct some pro bono tours for charity.

Whatever the tour, there will be erudition, great stories and laughter!
